I noticed that some of my Poppy seed head had an infestation of Black Aphids. Since this year I decided to garden without commercial insecticides I’ve been rounding up th ladybugs in my garden and moving them to plants that had insect infestations. Here I moved a ladybug so it could eat the black aphids I found so I wouldn’t have to resort to a bug spray. This video will accompany a blog entry on this subject along with before and after photos.

Have you ever bought lady bugs to use in your garden?
I hear that you have to let them go at night, else they will fly away.
In the winter of 96, in NH, we has an infestation of lady bugs. They were in the southern corners of a bunch of rooms in our house. They were lining the inside of the sliding glass door frame, huddled together.
It was really weird, but they just needed shelter. We let them live, and in the spring they left.
Lady bugs are a sign of good luck to me.

No Space, he is growing poppies.Not all poppies have sufficient opium to get opium out off. You might have well milk lettuce. California poppies and Sherley poppies have no opium worthwhile.Oonly certain varieties of poppies have sufficient opium to make it worth your time. Don’t plant MaCormic seeds, they grow a hibrid that produce less opium.
